ACLU attorney Joshua Block ignored questioning about harassment allegations against a transgender athlete client during a Supreme Court case.

The people who support barring trans girls from girls’ sports say the debate affects not just transgender athletes but whole teams and sports.

The Court heard two similar cases, Little v. Hecox and West Virginia v. B.P.J. — one brought by a trans woman in college, and one by a trans girl in middle school. They both involve constitutional challenges, and the middle schooler’s also brings a claim under Title IX, the federal law prohibiting sex-based discrimination in school programs.

In October 2019, the Supreme Court heard oral argument in Bostock v. Clayton County, a case about whether a federal civil rights law that prohibits employment discrimination based on “sex” extends to gay and transgender Americans too.
