Kīlauea volcano in Hawai'i began its first eruption of 2026, with lava fountains and a plume reaching 7,000 feet.
More rockfall incidents and pyroclastic density currents (PDCs) have been observed in Mayon Volcano in the past 24 hours, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) said Tuesday.
Kīlauea summit region shook for 5 hours Nov. 14 that year as magma made a path to the surface. The eruption began at 8:08 p.m. as a series of small lava fountains on the south wall of Kīlauea Iki Crater, east of Kaluapele — the summit caldera of Kīlauea. Gradually, during the next day, eruptive activity became focused at one vent.
Mount Etna is Europe’s most active volcano and the continent’s largest. It attracts hikers and backpackers to its slopes, while less adventurous tourists can take it in from a distance, most stunningly from the Ionian Sea.

Costa Rica's Arenal Volcano National Park is a gorgeous nature destination.
All that volcanic activity means natural hot springs are prevalent within and outside the park. Two favorites include Tabacón Hot Springs, which is bisected by a thermal river, and the terraced Titokú Hot Springs, surrounded by lush gardens.

Flight restrictions around Mayon Volcano extended
The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (Caap) on Tuesday extended the ban on aircrafts flying near Mayon Volcano. The volcano emitted lava earlier in the same day, with Alert Level 3 is in effect.
The chief volcanologist Teresito Bacolcol said it is too early to tell if Mayon’s restiveness would lead to a major and violent eruption.
