This trade is always changing and evolving. Variable Refrigerant Flow can be overwhelming at first but the more time you spend learning it the easier it becomes. Small corners cut can lead to big issues later so this is for the best of the best. Do not wait until you get the call, start learning about it now. Of course it's great to take every class from every manufacturer if you have the time and money. I have learned the most from the leader in the VRF troubleshooting and service Roman Richard

I just learned that feildpice has a leak detector that detects A1, A2, A2L and A3 combustible gasses including natural gas and propane. Have any of you used this yet? Either way if you get the chance, meet Tony Gonzalez, a friend if mine. Fieldpiece Instruments #leakdetection #hvac | Ty Branaman

Changing the refrigerant % in a blend changes saturated (boiling/condensing) points. It will no longer follow a PT conversion and make superheat and subcooling impossible. The unit may still "bLoW CoLd AiR" but it will not be possible to know how much refrigerant is in the evaporator coil. How much superheated vapor is returning to the compressor or how much subcooles liquid is stacked in the condensor. For example: 454A, 454B 454C all contain R32 and R1234yf but at different % in the mixture wi

Love2HVAC Residential Crank case heaters and Contactors When the compressor is running, the crank case heater should be off, and when the compressor is off the crank case heater should be heating. there are several methods to do this. 1st, the crank case heater is wired across the contacts if a single pole contactor (in parallel). when the compressor is energized the crank case heater is not and vice versa. this requires the fewest components. 2nd used a discharge line thermostat that closes on

HVAC Excellence and True Tech Tools are looking for the top 25 instructors in the USA. Be sure and recommend your local educator that has made an impact on you. If you do not have somebody local in mind I would appreciate it if you would consider HVAChick Jennifer. She gives so much to everybody else and doesn't leave enough for herself she is passionate and caring and I believe she deserves to be on the list for the top 25. #hvac #HVACInstructor #HVACEducation #hvaceducator | Ty Branaman

No, the vacuum will not implode your HVAC copper piping tubing coils or compressor. Let me explain, no there is too much, let me sum up... #1 Vacuum is not a thing, it's measuring pressure difference below atmospheric pressure. It's the atmospheric pressure being greater than the pressure inside that causes the drum to collapse. #2 Surface area, since the barrel is large it has a lot of surface area so there is a lot more square inches of pressure pushing in it compared to its thin wall. The most important day for the HVAC equipment is the day it was installed. You don't get a second chance at that first vacuum. Once the valves are opened the hygroscopic POE oil going to start absorbing any moisture left and turning to an acid that will eat away at the system and end up copper plating the compressor. This will shorten the life of the system greatly. The POE oil will strip the oxidation off the lines and have it floating around in the system until it finally clogs up a filter dis

Are you an HAC or HVAC tech? one of the most overlooked parts of is the Ventilation!!! There are many aspects but this video addressed the stove and vent a hood. When cooking you end up with a lot of moisture and particulate matter that needs to be vented out of the house. Unfortunately many vent hoods exhaust right back into the same air!! The metal filter catches some grease but does nothing for the particulates and moisture. A much bigger issue is with a gas stove. When methane is burned it c

The question was, can you make your own R454B. Answer, legally no because it would be a patent violation. If you cannot find any R454B consider the 90# reusable tanks but you will have a deposit and they are Heavy! In theory to make 20 pounds of R454B you would: 1st Dehydrate an oil free recovery tank with decay test. 2nd with in 6 pounds 3.5oz of 1234yf (also very expensive) to get 21.1% of 20 pounds 3rd set up a recovery machine to the tank and R32 bottle and pull a vacuum on that section to d
